An interesting comparison, too bad this couldn’t be the new cetacean stadiums!
It’s the largest pool in the world and located at the San Alfonso del Mar Resort in Algarrobo, Chile.

That yellow colouring on the inside of the big pool, is that like a mock beach? If only people would build tanks this size instead of for themselves.
I think that swimming pool cost 1 Billion to construct and costs around 2 Million a year to maintain. No Marine park will invest that kind of money in building a decent tank. SeaWorld Texas won’t even build an underwater viewing tank despite the fact they desperately need the space another tank would provide, and they have the room and the money to build it.

Regardless of what people say, these pictures show that a captive orca could most likely never be successfully released: They’re just too used to and friendly with people!

Because one single whale represents all of them, right?. You know what, some dolphin releases have been successfull, some have not. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to release any of them. I bet the ex captive dolphins who are swimming free today would disagree with you.

I’m not saying that every captive whale could be released, but there are one or two good candidates. It’s unfair to deny them their chance.

(Note this excerpt taken from HERE:

A dodgy looking news forum!. I see no credibility for this source at all. Plus it’s an interview with KIDS. What experience do they have to make such judgments? (unlike the source I posted earlier).

At first we were a bit scared, and weren’t sure whether the whale would attack or just wanted to say hello,” Neshaug told VG. “But then he just stayed with us, and couldn’t have been more friendly.”

Of course, Keiko was a friendly whale. They were very lucky about that fact when they chose to swim with him. Did they know that ‘Willy’ was just a character and he may not have been that friendly in real life?.

It is marine parks that actively promote such behavior - They make the public believe that the whales enjoy hugging and kissing the people who give them food and they enjoy giving rides to people.

The whale clearly wasn’t scared off himself by Norway’s long and controversial whaling tradition.

And how would Keiko know about Norway’s whaling industry, exactly?

Neshaug said the whale seemed eager to play, and it didn’t take long before the children were patting it and offering it freshly caught mackerel.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Neshaug said. “The whale seemed completely tame.” Soon the children were in the water as well, swimming with the whale and riding on his back.

“The whale seemed literally starved for affection,” Neshaug said.”)

I love how it ignores the fact that some people actually penned him in using their boats.

“I went out in my boat and tried to keep people away” Says Frank Haavik (one of Keikos trainers) “And it was pretty easy because Keiko was very tired at that point. Something was bothering him. He was probably exhausted by people. There was at times forty boats around there. He stayed in an area around this one boat at the dock, and he didn’t go away from there. People always say, ‘He loves people, he is so attracted to people’. But he showed a sigh there, to me. As soon as he found out,There’s nobody coming close to me here, he stayed there by that boat. He stayed for five days. Didn’t move”.

In fact, he didn’t move until a 50 meter exclusion zone was imposed and the people stopped bothering him.

(Side note - it was during this time that MSQ submitted their application to re catch Keiko, to put him in with Lolita)

Are kids the best ‘source’ you can find for saying that Keiko release failed?, seriously?. Try again, lol.

This is SUCH a cool interpretation of mermaid design!

This work of art reminds of me of Empires of the Deep. When is that movie coming out?! It’s already 2012 :(
